Is Advanced App Killer a de-stabilizer?

I read some advice from the app developer for Gauge Battery Widget that said: "Uninstall task killer (to add into ignore list is not enough)"

Is this true? That Advanced Application Killer only puts an app onto some kind of ignore status but allows it to continue running and therefore drain resources?

Or, is that the Battery Widget is not written is such a way that it plays well with all the other children in the neighborhood?

Or, is this just a proactive move to prevent App Killer from killing the Battery app (and then generating complaints)?

He also mentioned that the Droid will operate better without App Killer...with far fewer FC's or something...

So, what's the truth?

Is there a way to kill apps to save on resources short of rooting?

TIA

+1! Use the back button instead of home to exit apps and you're good to go :)
