Interesting silent mode problem

I have my phone on silent (vibrate only) and the phone vibrates when I am receiving a phone call. However, I get nothing -- no vibration -- when I receive a text message.

This is my 2nd droid 2. My first one did it no problems. This phone was a refurb replacment (asurion insurance) so I don't know if it's the phone or a setting I am overlooking someplace.

Anybody know how to remedy this?

If you are using stock messaging app, then open messaging app. From there, Menu>Settings>Notifications>Also Vibrate. Hope this helps.
