If I file a insurance claim on my o.g. Droid and pay the $100 and get new o.g. droid in mail. I've heard Verizon makes ur old phone not workable on Verizon ever again. Is this true if so is there any way a rooted Droid can work on other carriers or be fixed to work again?

If you file a claim you have to send back you old phone. If reported lost then yes the ESN is listed as bad and wont work with any carrier.

Also, keep in mind that what you are doing is insurance fraud...

That being said, I saw somewhere that a droid phone was flashed to sprint once, but I don't have a link or any other info on how

How's it fraud? You paid for a service that they provided.

My first Droid $200 just for phone aka its mine now and now its worn out and battery isnt as good so I'm paying for insurance every month and never filed a claim. To bad they don't have vanishing deductible or safe phone(driver) discount LOL. So they want me to send $100 for a another and they take my original droid. Kinda gay

Even before I was an insurance agent I've never understood the whole "XYZ COMPANY makes money off of me that I willingly pay, so it's not wrong to commit insurance fraud, because I earned it/I'm just getting them back."

In relation to your question, I think they are supposed to make the ESN bad, however from personal experience, it's not always done.

I legitimately lost a Blackberry once, claimed it, got replacement. Then I moved out of state. My mom calls me a couple months later, "I found one of your old phones, and your sister broke hers so I gave it to her."

I thought it was my old Alias so I didn't think anything of it. Then she called me asking how to use it.

When I realized, I called VZW and asurion (sp). And to my surprise the rep from the ins co thanked me for my honesty, and told me NOT to worry about sending it back.

I doubt this would ever happen again though lol.

However my douche step bro filed a false claim, sold his old one to his douche friend and they both worked.

So they clearly don't always follow through with the bad ESN thing.

    *shrug*

So, when your car gets old do you have it "stolen" so insurance will buy you something else.

Its insurance fraud, plain and simple.

So when your car gets some wear and tear and needs a battery, do you file a claim with your car insurance and get a new car?

I just think phone insurance could be improved or more options and u can't really compare phone and car insurance. Its not required u have phone insurance, full coverage on a phone?

Full coverage that would cover getting you a new car isn't required either.

It's the same principle. Insurance is a pool people pay a premium for a guarantee that they will be indemnified if they suffer a loss.

Insurance is not "I pay a little each month to get something new for free because what I bought has depreciated"

So basically you, the OP, think that you should be able to file a claim with insurance to get another phone and keep both. Hum. That's why insurance costs what it does, people scamming the system because they feel entitled to do so, because they "already paid for x and pay y amount each month and never used it"

Sounds like there is nothing even wrong with the phone so the claim itself is fraud let alone trykng to use it after filing a claim. Have you tried buying a new battery?
