installing apk files

    hi im running cyan 5.0.7.1 andeverytime i try to install a apk file thru root explorer, it always says not installed...any ideas?

    What's the APK? You can also just open the installer via Astro to install it. Has the Root Explorer method worked for other APKs for you? I've got RE but never installed an app with it. If RE opens other APK's maybe it is this one APK that is the issue.

    yeah, I'd try with Astro, unless it's a system apk - then it has to be moved into /system/app, ensure 644 permissions, and reboot... i guess just about any .apk could be installed that way, too
