install app question

    ok im a noob at this only been doing this for about 2 days now and i was wondering how do i install apps that i download? example i downloaded the audio widget to change the color of it to blue and have no idea what to do next. thx

    audio manager and is going to be a different process for each one? or pretty similar?

    Any that you download from the market install on their own and you can find them in the app drawer. If you download them via the browser on the Droid or on the PC and then transfer them to the Droid you will need to use a file manager such as Astro to find and install the app.

    If you were talking about the one I made transparent for you in the skinned audiomanager thread, then you have to install it through terminal, adb or root explorer.

    If you prefer adb or Terminal Emulator :

    Copy the .zip to the root or your sdcard. Change from .zip to .apk

    adb shell is only necessary in adb, TE you don't need to type adb shell

    mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
    busybox cp -R /sdcard/com.smartandroidapps.audiowidget.apk /system/app
    chmod 644 /system/app/com.smartandroidapps.audiowidget.apk
    mount -o ro,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
    sync
    reboot
