Can't enlarge it but it appears to be GPS. Disable GPS and it will go away and save your battery. ( the one that looks like a
    bullseye?)

Turn my phone, that's the GPS icon, funny they didn't know it, unless you described it over the phone as you did here.

Well, Thank you for the warm welcome :) I may be as my username clearly states, a dummy, but i dont think it is gps because they (best buy) looked through all my setting in person and said it wasnt. View attachment 60498 i believe this should be a close up. It doesnt look like a bullseye to me. But if you still think the same can you tell me how to make it go away.. PLEEEEASE :)

    Current Phone Model:
    Samsung Galaxy s4
I'm looking at the manual here on pg. 31: Samsung Galaxy S3 Manual User Guide for Galaxy S3 GT-i9300

I can't find that icon in the manual. If you restart the phone does it go away? Do you have any apps that update automatically?

If you turn off the GPS does that icon go away?

I searched the net and that icon is nowhere to be found. Do you have a app that may be pushing it to your notification bar?

"stroped" of my razr maxx, poo.

You have a SG3 right? The GPS is round. There is a compass icon that looks close also, but it looks like the Verizon navi icon with a circle, but that doesn't show up in Samsung's native icons.

Still analysing this, maybe e911 notification, trying to find an actual icon other than descriptions is another story. Just for S&Gs try disabling Google location. One person claims that will remove it everybody else says its stuck there since their last update.

    Back to digging.

I added the google location because it wasnt clicked and it added bars to this unknown icon. then i removed it again and it just took away the bars and left the icon. you mean phone update? i dont know that i have done one of those. i have only had this phone since saturday. maybe instead of samsung and best buy (where i bought it from) I should take it to verizon to see if it has to do w an update? I really do appreciate all your help!

It is the e911 icon and turning on any GPS app will put those curved lines beside it indicating GPS is being used. It is there until you root your phone. This is only a Verizon/Samsung deal. Sprint, AT&T, T mobile don't have the icon. Verizon a came to the conclusion last Saturday that some reps are lazy/stupid. Took my old phone and new phone she told me I had to do it because they don't/can't do it. When I had them do it 3 months ago.

By the way the icon is page 20 in the online manual, Verizon's link didn't work.

    Root that rascal.

Yes we all have e911, why all Samsung's don't have the icon or all Verizon's phones don't have the icon is beyond my grasp. But it's nice to be reminded that your being watched over. Shoot off a nasty email to Verizon and if enough people do maybe they will remove it. More better not add it to all the other phones. iPhone has never done it and they been tracking phones forever.

The reps at Verizon should've know this.

Curious, you never get the normal GPS icon?

Ah, just wondered. That icon is 6 months old, surprised Verizon couldn't figure it out.
