    What should I do

I do have adb shell access however.

Are you saying it's rebooting itself over and over? If so, pull the battery. Or you might be able to give it a reboot recovery command from adb. Anyway, you'll need to get back to recovery mode: hold down the x key when it's booting.

I pulled the battery like 5 times -- nothing.

But finally it took the command reboot recovery from the shell. I must have tried that command like 50 times but finally it took -- previously it said OPERATION NOT PERMITTED.

What is the WIPE command to wipe cache and system?

well, my understanding is that you need to do that before changing ROMs. Don't take my work for it: get on IRC (irc.freenode.net) and go to #android-root and talk to the guys in there and have one of them walk you through the steps to recover your system.

Damn man, so sorry to hear that. Take it to a vzw store and tell them you don't know what happened - you were on a call and it just died and wouldn't reboot.

Uhh..not a dead channel. It more like there wasn't anyone monitoring the channel to answer you right away.

He got it fixed on IRC. His backup was of incorrect format and used another one.

And just one other tip -- if you have the USB cable connected (because you were messing around with adb or file transfer) -- PULL THE USB CABLE OUT then hit X-while rebooting to get to the recovery menu. It never worked with the cable in place. Just a helpful hint to anyone in this bind!!1
