I manually updated, nothing will go wrong.
Yes the App tray is A LOT smoother which pretty much proves it's just a little code optimization that's needed. Also scrolling side to side is better but not quite as smooth as the app tray yet.
Motorola/Verizon/Google all seem to be paying attention to these little gripes which is not only impressive (given the short time the phone has been out) but a good sign for the future.
