Rooting you Droid is not difficult if you prepare and take your time. I do not recommend using any of the "one click" wonders.

Here are a few links that will provide the steps to root your Droid.
    http://www.droidforums.net/forum/re...08-multiple-phones-root-them-unroot-them.html
    http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-labs/74028-root-droid-1-regardless-os-version.html
    http://www.droidforums.net/forum/rescue-squad-guides/70875-what-you-need-know-about-rooting.html

Read the processes and make notes. If you have questions post them. When you are comfortable then begin. If you have any problems the community will be here to assist.

While I agree most one click root apps cause issues I would suggest universal androot, and download ROM manager for easy back ups and restores. Just a note though, do not use spaces or (.) in your backup name on ROM manager.

I just want to clarify for the readers, did you use use universal androot with FRG22D? Because the last time I checked all of the easyroot/universal androot methods DIED with FRG22D.

And to further clarify, there is a difference between Android versions and build versions for the A855. Example, when the A855 was first released, Android was at 2.0 and the A855 build was ESD20. It was only when Android 2.0.1/ESD56 was released for the A855 phone that root was first done ONLY FOR the A855. Since then Android 2.1/ERE25 was released (not rooted), and it only gets more complicated from there.

All along the way, lots of folks tried to 'make' easy ways to root the A855 phone, but with every new Android version and/or Moto build version the latest became the worstest. It started with "Droid Root Helper" IMHO and never got any better for more than a few weeks at best.

    OK, I'm done for now.
