IM messages across the top

I'm enjoying the phone so far, but I really don't care for the fact that the IM's I recieve flash across the top of the droid x. I know I can keep SMS messages from doing so, but I haven't figured out how to stop IM's. Anyone know how to do that?

You using an 3rd party im app or does the DX come with an IM client built in?

If it comes with a built in IM, I didn't see it. I've used Yahoo messenger and the Palringo app, and both of them flash the message and the screenname of the sender across the top of the screen.

So I guess there's no way around this for me as of yet?
