some IDIOT bumped into me @ Walmart & i dropped my droid. screen is now black & wont come on. VZ has sent me replacement. Prob is im rooted and cant unroot! so i have a week until i have to send it back, but is the phone messed up or will they just fix screen and then see root?

the keyboard still lights up when i silde it out and my laptop still notifies me on connect/disconnect. RSD Lite is not recognizing it.

What to do? What to do? Im a nervous wreck lol

Just to verify, when you say RSD is not recognizing it, you are using dpad up + power to get to the boot loader first right?

Check the old one. If RSD Lite recognizes it you can flash back to stock. If it doesn't recognize it, how would Verizon see it? And is it Verizon or Asurion that sent you the new one? If it's Asurion they don't care about root.

If you can't get rsd to recognize the phone, and are sure it's fully functional aside from the screen, AND have SPRecovery (Or any of the recoveries that use the volume rocker and camera button to select,) you could try the unroot without sbf guide.

Unroot your Droid WITHOUT RSD Lite

P.S. This is a guide written by teddyearp by the way, nicely done.

Probably the easiest way to do this, would be if you know somebody that is rooted and has the same recovery as you. You could download the file from the guide, rename update.zip and use a card reader or new phone to place it on your SD card. Use the proper sequence to boot into what you hope is recovery, then have your friend give you the proper key sequence to wipe your data and install the update.zip.

Rather labor intensive, and it's just a thought. I had the screen go out on mine once, only the screen. I was able to backup in SPRecovery using a key sequence, then went back to stock via sbf.

They strip the phones and refurbish. I'd try to get RSD Lite to recognize the phone and SBF back to stock, but failing that I'd just send it back. If the screen isn't working they strip it.

How/why are you getting a warranty replacement when the phone was physically damaged?

Probably because he didn't tell them it was dropped. When my screen died it was out of the blue, it happens sometimes.
