    Hey schwinn,

    Thanks for your quick response.

Yes, after rereading my question, I can see that it's a bit pained! :) Sorry.

Let me try again: I plan on returning to and sticking with the latest stock (Froyo-based) ROM at this point. Are the CW and RZ recoveries that Pete has in his download directory not compatible with Froyo-based ROMs, and is that the reason I got errors when I tried to install them, or is there a problem specific to the Linux sbf_flash utility?

Finally, since you brought it up, is the 2.0.3 RZRecovery SBF compatible with Froyo ROMs as well?

    Thanks again!

    cheers,
    john

Recoveries do not (that I have experienced) have any effect on Froyo vs GB. As I recall, there are some ROMs that have issues when running under some recoveries, but they will often tell you this in their descriptions.

I have used RZR 2.0.3 (and CW before it) for a while now, with numerous ROMs without issues (other than those that are "fixed" by the steps in this thread, which I don't beleieve are related). I think you'll be fine with RZR 2.0.3 via SBF (or update).

OP, thanks for the tip! After doing this and reloading the ROM I had on previously (Liquid 3.2) , I notice a slight speed increase but an even more dramatic improvement in my battery life. I just hit 29 hours, 46 mins and still have 20% left. And this is with above average use since I've been sick at home the last couple days. Before this I would have to charge every 16-18 hours or so.

RZR works very well, I have used it almost since i've rooted it, normal spr is terrible and would constantly fail flashing things, and CWM simply never worked. ever. constantly caused my phone to reboot while i was trying too use it. RZR though I have noticed did become a little glitchy once gingerbread came about, I know wiping Cache become insanely long. and the only rom having issues with it i've seen is simply stunning

I SBF'd my unactivated Droid using the instructions posted in the beginning of this thread. Everything worked, but I have one question. Everytime I boot up, I get a Verizon activation needed. If I click activate, it says cannot activate (which I assumed since I have a new phone). I can press the back button and use the phone normally, but if I reboot the phone again, it'll give me the prompt to activate it again. How do I stop that from happening?

I've read that somewhere and I have frozen that app, but activation still shows after reboot.

So, unsure if you HAVE to delete it to work, but freezing it does not work.
