Nope I'm on stock ics verizon ota and foxfi works brilliantly!

It's a problem for some. If you follow through this thread ( http://www.droidforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=217473
it's official, I dislike FoxFi...), it's a comedy, but goes through a process toward the end that activates the built in hotspot, but only if you are rooted.

Working great for me, I'm on ICS .215

I downloaded and tested foxfi on my maxx with ice cream sandwich and it worked great three days ago. I don't know that I will ever use it though.
