There is now a fix if you bricked on the new ics leak .84 or .85 it will unbrick you but you still will be on whatever leak you installed.

I'm so sick of ICS thread after ICS thread that contain the exact same "new" information that has already been posted several times.

It has calmed down a tad... there was a point that there were what 4 or 5 started each day. I feel so stupid when I open up the thread to see the same ole information. Nothing against the OP... it is my own fault lol

I have to agree with the last post a few of my moto apps have updated to run on ics like i said i heard by the 21st of may we should have it if the screen shot going around the web is correct but I'm sure we all remember the best buy screen shot. Also does anyone know where the screen shot originally came from and if so is it a trusted source

I'm not too sure about how much better ICS will make my Maxx as it really didn't do much for my Xoom which I impatiently waited for. I know many who have rooted have said that things are better but honestly, my Maxx is running perfectly now.
As with all updates comes the flurry of "I can't wait for it to get here" followed by the many complaints that something got broken by the update so I guess I will wait a couple weeks before I do the update.

And.... drawing from my experience from "rooting" my past WM phones, the first thing I would do is a hard reset and clear out all my apps so I can start with a clean slate. IMHO, that will prevent any conflicts from installed apps. After that I am going to install my apps in order of importance and wait a couple days inbetween to see how things work before installing the next round.

Somebody made a very valid point on another thread that if Motorola is indeed planning on releasing the RAZR HD then commom sense dictates we wont see the update until that device is released (probably a month after). Wouldn't Moto want to entice buyers to that device by it having ICS? It makes sense business wise.

So the original timeframe that was reported in January of June/July is very likely.

Actually, common sense does not dictate that. In fact, common sense dictates just the opposite.

If the RAZR/MAXX had ICS now, practically no one in the general public will buy either now over the HD later just because it already has ICS. Likewise, next to no one no one will buy the HD later over the RAZR/MAXX later just because of ICS. Anyone looking at the RAZR/MAXX after the HD drops is looking for a cheaper price, not the most up to date OS.

Most people will buy one or the other based on three things - 1) Marketing, 2) Price, and to a lesser extent 3) Specs (which typically plays into the marketing). People that frequent forums like this are in the minority when it comes to knowledge of OS versions and updates. All most people want is a phone that works.

In actuality, if ICS was a big selling point, Verizon would want it on the RAZR/MAXX as soon as possible in order to sell more before the HD drops. They're concerned about selling the stock they have on hand now, which is why they try to keep future releases quiet. They don't want customers waiting several months. They want them buying as soon as possible. Once the HD drops, it will be tougher to get people to buy the RAZR/MAXX since there will be a new kid on the block. But OS version is really not really much of a selling point beyond a small group of users. It's not even enough to give the Galaxy Nexus a prime marketing spot as far as Verizon is concerned, nor is it enough for the Galaxy Nexus to put up big sales numbers. It doesn't come down to the OS version for most people at all.

The only way it would make sense is if there's a major new, exclusive feature being included in the ICS update for the RAZR/MAXX, but they want to officially launch it on the HD. ICS itself wouldn't be such an exclusive feature since Verizon has already had the Galaxy Nexus, the first phone with ICS, for awhile. And if there is some great new feature, it's not included in either of the leaked ICS updates. So perhaps the reason for the delay is the addition of new features? That also brings something else to mind - the version of Webtop included in the leaks was marked as a beta, so they might be continuing to add features there. That might play into the delay and the desire for an official launch on a new device before pushing the update to other devices. They completely overhauled Webtop to be more tablet-like, so perhaps Motorola is planning a big push in that direction with the HD (maybe with a PadFone-like tablet in the future?). But of course, all of that is just pure speculation.

Depending on the business model that they hope to achieve, your theory can be both genius, and suicide. EDIT: rather a very bad decision.

Since we're talking about vzw and moto, it can also be a mix of the two. Your theory is plausible. Infact you may be onto something. I've been thinking for a while that there's more to the release of the HD and ICS being so slow to drop. Otherwise it makes no sense to release a maxx with a slightly better screen with ICS. But its something moto and vzw could likely do.

Except that the hunger they've been able to create for ICS could drive sales for that phone through the roof, but the maxx has been a huge money maker for them..... and as soon as the HD drops, so will the price and demand for the maxx. As you stated of course. The thing we can't speculate on is the X factor here. The proverbial ace up their sleeves that we have no clue about. If indeed there is one, and if they aren't trying to get the market in a frenzy.

So I'm very interested to see what vzw and moto have up their sleeves. Or are we perhaps going to be shocked over the lack of forethought we thought we were going to see??

Will the HD have a battery like the Maxx? If not, the Maxx will still have strong sales, ICS or not. These devices flat out rock!
