Does anybody know if the DROIDX will get an ics ota?

It has not been announced that it will. And with how old the device is I would say there is little to no chance we will. If you are rooted then ICS roms are a definite possibility.

I wouldn't bet on an official OTA of ICS for the X. As stated before, given it age on the market it's doubtful this device will be supported anymore.

As we both said it is highly unlikely. On the up side, if you do root and then by some crazy set of circumstances we do get an OTA (again I truely doubted) it is very easy to unroot.

I wouldn't count on it. Verizon and google have both stated that the lifespan (read: update availability) of all phones is 18 months. Stupid when considering a standard contract is 24 months.

Darn! I guess we'll just have to wait for CM9. Which is fine for me

I read on the website that tomap processors and some other one gets it first so we will see it first. It's actual ics just heavily modified for us hope it comes soon

Ya seems pointless anyway to get the ota when we can have the same thing with a rom

    Yes we will...
And actually... Cvpcs is working on getting cm9 working on the x first... Because he's familiar (because his recent work on it) and the hack bring required in other devices... The x will be first... And the rest will follow

The ota wouldn't be pointless... As it would have an updated ics kernel... Instead of making it work in the ginger kernel...

The release date of the x2 was may of this year, so by their standards I should get it, however I'm sure your right which is fine with me, I'm kinda new to this still, and as much stuff I used to do with all my old Nextel phones this is all new to me, I'm still trying to figure out what the hell this whole rooting thing is, cuz once this phone is out of warrenty I wanna try it.
