Maybe things have changed. So if I got an IPhone now I do not have to load Itunes or any of their other software? I can simply sync it like an Android as a USB drive? The other issue I have with apple is most of their products are overpriced in comparison to say PC's. Again just my opinion. I teach in high school and I have a lot of friends that swear by everything apple. Nothing wrong with that, I just don't like them.

The same apps that you get in the Android Market are available in the App Store. The App Store you access just like you do the Market and updates for your apps come through there.

iTunes is used to register your phone (I have the iPad) and to get the latest firmware. But I still buy all my music through Amazon. I do that on my iMac and it goes right into iTunes. It's also your backup.

The Market is locked down and prices are higher, but for what you get it's worth the extra money for the apps. Angry Birds for example is free on Android with ad's but it's ad free at the app store for 4.99.

I really don't understand why people say "I just don't like Apple products" without giving a reason. Lot's of people say that. Hey I like Apple and I like Android. I hate Microsoft, but there is plenty of reason for that. I understand that Windows 7 is doing better and that's nice to hear but I've had too many windows computers crash on me and I've lost everything. Never happens with my Mac. Perfect? Nope, I do my maintenance every 2 or 3 weeks and every once in a while I have a disk error but all I have to do is stick a disk in it, reboot, and it have it repair.

I've got a long time before I'll be giving up my D2. 14 months. What will I do then? Will I consider Apple? Yes, I will. But if Android is just smoking Apple out of the Market I certainly won't. My Droid, Mac and iPad have all learned to live peacefully together. I like Google so I'll just wait and see.

Me and you are in the same boat brother! If its good its good cant hate!

Well said, Hook! VZW adding the iPhone has changes things. Hopefully, for the better. Apple and Android are solid. There are advantages and disadvantages to both. For me, the beauty of having two options is like my rooted Droid, I can change things when I want.

on thing that i keep tossing back and forth, is that i have been running miui. well, i found that i absolutly love the miui iphone look. i love the rounded icons, no app drawer. i thought about it, and basically, ive been making my droid 1 look like an iphone. if im doing that and loving it, why not upgrade and get the actual iphone.

im still on the fence. i cant make up my mind between the iphone and the fascinate. some love one......some love the other. whats the deciding factor ??

Being that I havent owned either take my advice with a grain of salt! :p

When I was deciding last march to get a new laptop it was difficult b/c a Windows laptop that was small, light, powerful and had a decently long battery life was about $1000. I figured for a couple hundred more I could venture to a completely new to me OS... It was a no brainer so I did and I am happy with my MBP 13.

I am a person that likes trying new things and learning to appreciate many things so it was an easy decision for me.

If my area didnt have LTE in sight I would have jumped all over the vPhone, just to try something new... but it does have LTE right now so Im waiting till then.

Good luck man, just got an iphone 4 this morning, its got a nice screen, camera, and music player. It is so dependent on a PC,and itunes.Unless im doing something wrong, you cant even download a ringtone, and use it without a PC? Cant download and install music directly either....no flash.....limited texting options, and the navigation isnt as good as the Droids.I was really pissed at my local store,I called yesterday, and was told I couldnt put a deposit or hold one,it was forst come first serve, and they opened at 7am,but expected a huge line by 5am!I was told that it i wanted one i better get there early....I got there at 515,stood in 7 degree weather with 3 other ppl....3....until 645 when a few more rolled in,what a joke.....then the employees come out clapping and high 5ing us,If it wasnt for my old lady id left then...all this hype for an outdated device.Best part was getting to shoot the ipad down in front of all the people waiting,as they tried to sell it to us....told the salesman no thanks Ill wait for a real tablet like the Zoom,as the ipad was a blown up ipod with less features,no cameras.....asked how well the flash worked on the ipad....no answer....wheres the camera....,how much memory can be added later...as your needs grow......hmmm....got real quiet...salesman quickly tries to recover, says oh you know a little about these things...and quickly beats it back into the store ...that was worth the wait alone.....

Android and Apple is just a thing of personal choice. My very first phone was the droid 1, and I still love it. When I bought the phone I didn't even know what Android was, or what carrier were good. I just new I wanted the best phone out, and that it wasn't the Iphone. I didn't care about the price. That's how I got my OG, I didn't even bother looking at the iphone. I new I didn't like IOS specially after buying my sister an Ipod for her birthday, and after trying to use it finding myself limited w/ the lack of customization. I just left like it was an overpriced music/video player. Oviously it can do a lot more than that, but I just simply didn't like it. I foudn myself quickly bored w/ it and leaving it after 30 mins. I honestly thought I was gonna be all over it, but the OS simply didn't click w/ me. That's why I love my OG so much, I can do almost anything I want to it. I get about 24hrs of battery life, and this is running at 1ghz on performace. The one thing I dislike the most about the iphone is the browser. Even though it's a lot smoother, I hate the checkerboard pattern you get, it just extremely anoys me.
Anyways the Iphone is a great product, and w/o it Android might not be were it's at now.

iphone-retina display is beautiful, great pix and video, smooth all of the time. If you want a solid phone and don't care about tweaking, serious customizing, and can live with a small screen then the iphone is a great choice.

I don't know what this means but I'm a sr advisor at apple for the idevices and I love my droid. Most advisors run android in our building with the exception of 3 people...

Good luck with the iphone, maybe we'll talk during your next tech support call. Lol.

It's too painful trying to read all of this, but to correct on a couple of things. You CAN buy and install music directly on the iPhone. And the iPad. And the iPod touch.

As far as acting like the iPad is just an oversized iPod, what exactly do you think the Android Tablets are right now? Please give some thought to your posts and research things. The Xoom is the closest thing to competition for the iPad right now, and it isn't even out. By the time it hits, the iPad 2 will be hitting with new features. Don't think the iPad is simply going to shrink up and go away. It isn't going to happen and it will remain a benchmark.

Tell me ONE tablet out right now that can touch the iPad. Just one.

As far as the iPhone, there is simply no Android phone out there right now that can touch the iPhone 4 screen.

So maybe settle back on the Android fanboyism. And make no mistake, that is exactly what you are exhibiting.

This might be a bit off topic but whatever. I think he was arguing that you can't simply drag and drop files on a iPhone like you can't install third party apps. I don't know if this is true i thought it still was. I have two apple products both computers and i absolutely HATE THEM!!! though i am using my macbook omg is it awful!!! I really hate it but it was a gift my parents gave me before they sent me away so i could say much. My other apple device is literally dying right in front of me the screen is slowly going out and i cant do anything about it stupid iMac. My sisters year old dell works hell of a lot better than my year old mac book, and i dont even use it for porn!
To me I can't find a single thing apple does right: Its overpriced, the software is defiantly smooth, No good software available, system managment. I think PCs just do everything better simple as that, the fact I own 2 macs means that I defiantly have some knowledge on the whole apple thing. OH GOD I FREAKING HATE IT!
Its based on opinion and guess what you love your mac or apple device and thats fine I'm not talking down to you or anyone because like I said some people just prefer apple products. Sorry if it sounded mean i kinda wrote this raging on my Mac.
P.S: Parents bought me both the macs one in 10th grade and the other when i went to college.

I'm wondering what apple computers you have, I havent had any problems at all, zero.

And apparently most people who buy them dont either:

best of luck to you with the iPhone :) everyone knows the rivalry between open source-anything and Apple-everything, but really it just comes down to personal choice (as I'm posting this from my Mac that I wouldn't give up for anything!) and the iPhone has a lot to offer to a lot of people

One thing you'll need to prepare for... lots of free time that you WON'T be spending modding ;)

hopefully everyone can respect your choice as a personal one and can recognize true merit where it exists :)
