Think Google Googles. But you scan a tree a plant, a leaf, and it identifies the family and species and any other relevant information.

Goggles sadly can not do this,

That would be a HUGE database of info that it would have to be matched to. Im sure it could be done, but whether or not they felt there would be enough demand for it would be another story

I think it would be similar to code as Googles, but a GIANT database as mentioned. I don't think it could be terribly accurate -- but I would be even happy if they did the "closest matches list".

i dont see how this would be possible without very sophisticated algorithms to identify outer points, viens, color, etc... i can imagine it being accurate. could use gps to narrow down a locally grown species, that might help some.

It's completely doable but the amount of data it would require is unrealistic at present. The phone would literally need to compare nearly every pixel in the frame to every known entry in a particular database or databases, with relative speed. I mean c'mon, Google Goggles still sucks and you can scan something from inches a way in perfect lighting lol

People could send in emails to the developer with pics of trees leaves and other plants along with what species, casual name, and other info like that.

Sent from my REVOlutionized LithiumDroid with Slayher's 1000 MHz LV kernel

My goodness, this is exactly what I talked about. I am willing to bet this will be expensive. I'd pay $30 or so for this.
