I have 2 children and can't parental control the wifi connection. Can someone help me ? I want to disable them from being able to use it. It is wide open and I want to protect them. How would I do this.

How are you controlling the 3G?

No idea on how to limit wifi.

Both your kids have droids. Unless there is an app I do not see away to block a wide open wifi network. The person with the router can password protect it. And black made a point, 3g is just as wide open. The only solution I can think of is to give them a flip phone.

They will be able to turn off wifi and browse the internet (all of the internet) through the cell towers.

You could block wifi in the house by setting up a proxy/firewall that controlled all access to the internet through your household internet connection, and while that's probably beyond the scope of "phone help" it will point you in the right direction to seek local help installing such a set up if it is needed.

If you're that worried about parental controls, why did you buy your kids one of the most connective devices available?

Yeah, there's really no way to do this. Smartphones are meant to access the internet, that's what they do. You'd have to completely disable the phone to prevent internet access.

Consider getting a different phone? Or just sitting your kids down and talking with them? My family was always big with the "one strike" rule....

And although it has been answered, I want to make sure you understand. Wifi is just gonna give you a faster internet connection due to using your home router/internet connection. But even if you somehow block that, they still have 3G connection, which means that they can still do the same exact thing than with wifi, but not as fast (but still at pretty decent speeds).

If i remember correctly you can limit what is over the 3g connection, i think it's another added feature that verizon will make you pay for. As for Wifi, as others have stated, if you have it wide open then they can do what they want, the best way to really stop wifi is to create a password for the router signal that only you and your wife/husband know. But if they go anywhere other then your house and there is either an open wifi or a wifi at their friends house they know the password to, then they still have free reigns on it. I don't know of any app that can block wifi outright.

In theory if you had root access, you could rename the tiwlan_drv.ko to say tiwlan_drv.ko.bak and wifi wouldn't work at all.
