When you get the triangle dial *228 or* 288, listen for your que to hit 1 to activate. Not sure it would help if the speakers blown but there are 2 speakers. The speakerphone by the battery and the speaker towards the top of the screen.

I know none of the spealers worked and I tried activating it but it said it didn't connect to the network.
