This is immensely frustrating. At least I've figured out exactly when it happens (when I turn off / turn back on my phone).

I'm running the Kangeraid blue Froyo release...just out a few days ago. Everything works fine and then I turn the phone off/on and I lose it.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Not opposed at all to reading for myself, I'm just completely new to all this. Commencing forum search now...

Did you wipe data/cache before installing each rom?

    Yes.

Is there something basic I'm missing? Does logging into google and letting it sync my applications and auto-install screw it up?

    Currently installed apps--
    Adobe Reader
    Android PDF Viewer
    Any Cut
    APN Backup/Restore
    Astrid Tasks
    Auto Memory Manager
    Barcode Scanner
    BenchmarkPi
    CalWidget
    Color Flashlight
    ConnectBot
    DialZero
    Dialer One
    Documents to Go
    Droid Light
    ES File Explorer
    Evernote
    File Manager
FileExplorer (all these duplicate programs; I'm trying these and going to pick the one I like)
    GDocs
    gReader
    HandcentSMS
    Meebo IM
    PDF Viewer
    PicSay
    Quadrant Standard
    R.Thunder Lite
    ROM Manager
    SetCPU
    Shopper
Superuser Permissions (comes stock on this ROM)
    Trapster
    USAA

those are all the custom installs.

Logging into Google won't screw it up. Exactly what is happening that makes you think that you're losing root? Can you still run Superuser Permissions after you reboot?

No, that's what I was losing.
Turned the sync back on, all seems fine....
Might be the p3 kernel I installed, going to try that again now after backing up my current rom.

I think it's the settings for auto-backup under Privacy that were screwing it up.
