    Welcome to the forum!
Can you tell us what OS version you're currently on? Are you rooted stock, or running a rom on your S3?
Do not take an update on your S3 either OTA or via KIES unless you want to lose root. Your best bet is to disable both SDM & FWUpgrade files in Titanium Backup or My Backup Pro. (Both apps are well worth the money and a must have for rooted users) This will keep you from getting update notifications, as well as any accidental updates.

I am running stock touch wiz, I don't mind losing root if I can re root. what I am afraid of is the latest talks about patching security on Sammy phones that will disable rooting.

is any one aware of this latest update what it is.

maybe is the upgrade to lollipop but I am afraid of not being able to root again.
I can't live with out root I run several apps that need root

    Sorry for the delay @elchito1727!
Can you go into your settings, about phone and tell us what OS version you're on. It will look similar to this. [IMG]
Regardless of the version, your best bet in this situation would be to return to stock first, than take the update and then reroot. While you "can" take the update without returning to stock, this is by far the safest method and will prevent any issues you may encounter, both during the update and down the road.
The reason it's important for us to know what OS version you're on, is because you very well may be on one of the latest versions, and the update notification you keep receiving could be a small insignificant update that may not be worth updating. (carriers, especially Verizon, are known for releasing small updates like this that aren't worth the trouble)
Another equally important reason for knowing what version you're on, is there may be an update you can simply flash in recovery, which would save you a lot of time.
That said, I can assure you its not the update for Lollipop. Sorry

Well I feel like an idiot....I just noticed you posted your os version in the title....sorry! :)
Who is your carrier? That way I can look and see what update its notifying you of and we can determine whether or not it's worth returning to stock to take this update, and/or check to see if developers have a current root update you can flash. Also, let us know what recovery you're currently using (TWRP or CWM)

Sorry for the delay elchito! I'm not quite sure which update yours would be since its running on Freedompop. You could try and check it here. Otherwise you may need to check fredompop. Find and update the software version on your Samsung Galaxy S III
Since I've been out of the loop on the S3 for awhile, might I suggest you head over to our dedicated S3 sister forum. It's S3forums.com
We've got a great group of very friendly and knowledgeable folks over there that should be able to offer some better suggestions than I, as well as let you know what your next course of action should be.
    Good luck guys!
