I have a flashed Droid. What happens if I update to Froyo?

I have a Droid flashed to Cricket running Android 2.1 (ESE 53). As you can probably tell, I'm not that well versed in all things Android so of course, I'm concerned about updating to 2.2. What will happen to my flash if I do so?

You will lose flash. Root it and throw a custom 2.2 rom like me. I'm also on cricket with froyo

how do i do this?

I have a motorolla Droid that is flashed to cricket service as well and I want to update to android 2.2. I just don't really know what to do, is there anyone that can help me with simple instructions and a file that won't erase the flash? Please, I really really want the update so I can get flash.
