My wife is getting a Droid 1 today and I am looking for some apps that we could use together on our phones.
For example, we would like to have a tracker app where we could see eachother on our phones. Not a jealousy thing, I just work out of state and it would be something fun to play with.
Also, any good person to person apps. It can be messaging, ptt, or anything like that.
Any help is greatly appriciated, We have been married for 12 years and just like to stay connected, plus it gives me another phone to root, :icon_ banana:

Skype is crapware and is so over sized its insane. Choppy video and audio is as well even standing UNDER a tower. I would suggest not waisting your time, minutes, or space on your phone with this app.

My wife won't let me root her.

What's a good way to do this, create a new Gmail account just for the purpose of the shared calendar?
What's a good way to do this, create a new Gmail account just for the purpose of the shared calendar?
Why would you need to "create" an account? For that matter, how are you backing up your contacts WITHOUT a Google account? Android is powered by Google. In order to do a lot of things on these phones, they require a Google account.

We both have Gmail already; don't think D2 can be setup for service without one.

I meant make a new 'shared' gmail accnt to add on each phone, just for the purpose of using a synced calendar; was wondering if tp76 had set up shared and separate calendars and kept it simple using just their standard Gmail accounts.

My wife is out of state too because of this economy. We keep in touch by using the phone. :)

Our Groceries is a great shared use app. My wife and I use it all the time. You sync to one phone number and it updates the lists you share live. You can use it for the name purpose, groceries, or any kind of to-do or task list. Works great.

Like others... Latitude for location, TiKL for PTT, Google Voice for free messaging,

You might consider getting Wavesecure for security purposes and tracking. It lets you find lost phones, lock them down and msg them to tell the "finder" to call and report that it's been found. If they don't you can remotely wipe it.
