Honestly I got one and I love it, but I kept my OG Droid to keep up with Pete's roms so I think either way you are set. I would go through withdrawal if I tried to stop flashing GPA's all at once! lol ;)

I also got a Thunderbolt and love it. It's crazy fast compared to my Droid. The only thing I miss are Pete's ROMs, and I keep imagining just how incredible they would be on a phone this fast! I know Pete is waiting for a vanilla android device, but I keep hoping he will consider releasing a ROM for the Thunderbolt. Please, Pete. :)

I disagree, locked bootloaders make everything worse!

But, does/is any one make/going to make ROMs for it?

Someone will. I think there are 3 already, check the HTC Thunderbolt area about that.

I wouldn't use a custom ROM but I'd sure root it.

Bootloaders dont mean much when the hardware is outdated. And FYI, Ive owned the DX for nearly a year and locked bootloaders have NEVER kept me from doing anything a D1 could do.....

D1 is great and all but TB is leaps and bounds better. HTC doesn't lock the bootloaders as Motorola has since after the D1. You can't expect there to be 30 roms to be available right now for TB considering how new the phone is. I imagine TB rom developement will exist for a long time. D1 does still have some life in it but the demand will simply die when new requirements demand more that the D1 cannot meet.

Yessss, thunderbolt is much better than Droid. And don't hesitate for the Bionic or Revolution or the Charge if you can upgrade now. IMO the Bolt is better that all of them, dual core or not.
