HTC Rezound users! The day has finally come. Its time to unlock your bootloaders, root your phone, install a custom recovery and mod your device to your heart's content! You guys will now be able to enjoy the benefits of an easily customizable device, and who knows maybe someone is working on ICS for you right now?! The process isn't dificult, but you should know that this may void your warranty, and if you mess something up you could have a paper weight on your hands. If this doesn't bother you proceed with caution!

This does require that the SDK be installed which is really not that difficult of a process. Just search youtube there are lots of tutorials. You will need all the proper HTC drivers installed. A full description and tutorial of the unlocking process has been put together to make this whole process seemless by one of our very own "macpro88" to see his easy to follow guide just check out the link below. Let The Modding Begin!

Grab the instructions to unlock your Rezound bootloader here.

According to Moto it is the "carriers fault". Well that story seems to be full of holes!

Thanks for linking my guide :)

And yes, Motorola should be taking notes!

And HTC has also said that ALL 2011 devices will be unlocked! That's great news!

Congrats Rezound owners!! Hopefully the dev support will be there. Keep nagging VZW and the phone manufacturers to keep their phones unlocked. I want to be able to root and flash my future phone (one more year to go...)!!!

    It really is.

Moto to my knowledge is the only company that locks & encrypts their bootloader.

Which is what the big issue is. It really isn't the locking, but the encryption that is a PITA.

Hopefully moto catches on here but I'm afraid they won't. It'd be nice having an unlocked D4

Oh wow.....Decision time now. This makes the Rezound the hands-down best phone out there. Unlocked/root was the only edge the Nexus had, and now with the reviews the Rezound camera has, along with the 48gigs of optional storage (for those traveling without service)....

I love the Nexus, but I have to seriously look into this.

Was it not assumed that the Rezound would be unlocked like all the other HTC phones and at least have an easily defeatable bootloader? They release all the source code for the kernels right?

    Unlocked, rooted, de-bloated and de-Sensed.

But to be honest, it really isn't any different than what we had before with temp root and the debloat and de-Sense scripts. All that has changed is that we have perm root, but you don't need that for all that much except apps like Wifi tether, TB, and a few other things.

My concern here is that we won't be able to get an ICS based ROM on here because we still have S-ON, and we will undoubtedly make our phones unable to accept the ICS OTA when it does come out because we deleted some system file that is needed, etc...

So I am not totally sold on this yet, especially until there is a decent ROM out there. Right now, there isn't.

Hands-down best phone out there? I'd say it's a bit closer than that.
