The latest leaked images of the HTC One A9 Aero are making the rounds and they illustrate a disturbing and sad trend for HTC. These shots were accidentally leaked by Orange Boutique (now removed) and are the final press renderings for the device. They look almost exactly like an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6S, right down to the protruding camera lens, the polished metal ring on the back, and the way the glass curves into the casing on the front.

Of course, the antennae stripe on the back is very similar to the iPhone, but that is something that HTC actually did first in older designs. In this case, even the overall shape of the device is a dead ringer for an iPhone. It seems obvious that HTC wants to capitalize on the same design language that Apple is currently employing.

Regardless, this seems like a desperate ploy for HTC to stay relevant in the mobile space. Perhaps the old adage is true here, "Desperate times call for desperate measures."

Be sure to check out all of the images in the thread below to see multiple angles.

They're capitalizing on a known popular design. In their current position, I don't blame them.

I'm hoping these are all fake, given the home button is on a device with on screen buttons. If they are real, HTC deserves the bottom of the barrel.

Just sayin'

If this is the final version..I can see apple jumping on this...and further hurting htc's bottom line..

I realize I was a bit harsh before. Apple did copy HTC first with their iPhone 6 design. Why can't HTC go all out and copy their original design again.

Still....wish they had put the fingerprint reader on the BACK of the phone.

Just sayin'...again.

I prefer it on the front of the phone. That being said, I haven't tried one that is on the back yet.

It's a copycat field and that's all HTC is doing. Who knows if it'll be enough to save them though.

That's all that anyone is doing anymore. It's crazy how no one is able to differentiate themselves anymore.

Let's be honest. There's only so much you can do to make your rectangle stand out from all of the other rectangles on the market.
