After some study, I've decided to refuse the GB v2.3.3 upgrade for now. How do I tell my Droid X to quit fussing about it? Will the fuss just go away over time? Also:

  1. If I reboot the phone, I'm almost sure the upgrade will take place, whether I like it or not. Any way to stop it?
  2. This version is 4.5.596. Is that the stock v2.3.3 GB? I assume it is ... does anyone know if Verizon is planning updates for this to fix the problems I read about here?
I am an experienced programmer and am sure I could root, install a custom ROM etc. I just don't want to take the time.

Need a phone that just works. Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

Root the phone, then install Titanium backup and freeze the updater file.

It will stop the prompts and download.

Root, use Bloat Freezer to freeze blurupdater.apk.

Or use Root Explorer and rename it to blurupdater.apk.bak
