My first journey into android.

How do I uninstall "Explorer" (by "Speed Software") app

When I open "Applications" and locate "Explorer" all I can do is open the app from my phone
Dragging the icon to "trash" does not eliminate it.

Would appreciate any help for this android virgin -- thank you :)

if you installed it from the market, you can go to "my apps" there, find it and choose uninstall.
if its a "system" app, you will need to be rooted to remove it.

Explorer was installed from the market.
• Home screen > Applications > Explorer
• Tap:- opens explorer, no options or menus
Tap results (a list):= acct, cache, config, d, data, default.prop, dev, efs, etc, fota.rc, init, init.goldfish.rc, init.qcom.lpm__boot.sh, init.qcom..sh, init.rc, init.target.rc, initlogo.rle, lib, lpm.rc, mnt, persist, proc, res, root, sbin, sdcard, sys, system, tombstones, uventd.goldfish.rc, uventd.rc, vendor
... no uninstall
• Press + hold:- creates a copy/shortcut on home screen.
Is "uninstall" a swipe, poke, tap, finger dance ... or something I cannot find ? :)

On my unrooted S2 phone how do I uninstall Explorer -- remove it from "Applications" ?
Where is the pesky "Uninstall" button/control/item ?
Correction fluid does not stick to the screen

Thank you :)

perhaps i should have been more clear,
if you downloaded it from the market, go to the Market/my apps, find the app in the list of installed, open and choose uninstall.

Thank you " bweN diorD" ... I finally got it ... :hail:

How I did it:-
... to uninstall "Explorer" app from applications on my phone ... has to be done using the original install web-page

Start phone
- internet connection is required
WiFi (tap) ... optional to make internet connection via my land-line router ... my phone does not have internet service
Home page > Applications > Play Store (tap)
- Google Play Store opens offering lots of stuff -- looks like Lego for under 5's

- at top of page [Google Play ..... View attachment 65143] ... tap the View attachment 65143 icon to open the virtual keyboard
- virtual keyboard appears
Search Google:= Explorer ... (type in the name of the app to be uninstalled.)
- Google found 80 odd apps
- a lot of scrolling to find "Explorer" -- items are in random order.
Tap the "Explorer" item
- opens at the download page with a "Uninstall" button/control
Uninstall (tap)

Explorer was uninstalled :big smile:

glad you got it figured out, but you still did it the hard way.
after you opened the play store, all you had to do was tap the 3 little dots at the top right, choose my apps, then installed, and only the apps installed on your device would have shown up. no searching through "80 odd related apps" was necessary.

Hi " bweN diorD" -- thanks for your generous support.
after you opened the play store, all you had to do was tap the 3 little dots at the top right

"My Playstore" page does not have "three little dots"
View attachment 65265
Tapping the top row of icons opens the pulldown menu -- I tried each icon (as tiny as they are) in that top "bar"
Even the pull down menu does not have 3-dots nor My Apps
The jumbo "Apps" icon is only for google promotional material

I am ready for 100 lashes and humble pie if I missed something

Actually, from the Play Store you hit the menu button on the phone and choose "My apps", aged from there find the app you wish to uninstall and select the "uninstall" button.

You cab also uninstall an app from three app drawer my dragging it to the top of the screen and dropping on the three dots which says "More options".

Thanks "FoxKat" for your response. :smile-b:

I didn't even think to "tap" the menu.
Have updated my How-to-TXT file with step by step instructions.

Will my embarasment go with humble pie ?

Thanks a lot to both "FoxKat" and "bweN diorD" for your patience. :big smile:

i see FoxKat got you stright :)
i should have mentioned it was the menu button, sorry.
on phones with no menu button, like mine lol, they provide the 3 dots at the top.

Or you can turn off it :)
