How to turn off updates? 2.2

I'm already on 2.2, but for some reason it keeps wanting me to update to 2.2, i say to heck with it and install the update (again) and restart my droid, and an hour later it tells me to update to the same thing i already have!


Any way to fully turn off updates?

the only way i know requires rooting and using sprecovery.

That is a weird issue. Do you have SBRecovery or a non-stock ROM installed already? If so, the Google update will fail to install (which could explain your problem).
