Any ideas? Besides apkmanager it wont work for me.
u dont need to sing the framework unless ur making it from scratch
The framework-res.apk isn't installed by a simple press of the file, it needs to be pushed with ADB, Terminal, or Root Explorer, as with anything that goes in the system/app folder...no signing is necessary
+1 to all the above, but note, you can't just overwrite the existing one with root explorer and have it work. (just to clarify)
if you decompile it and compile it,it needs to be signed, all apks need signed, just google autosign tool. xda has a nice one
Depending on how much editing you do of the framework, I usually decompile/recompile, and then simply drag and drop the files I modified onto a copy of the original framework.apk using winrar. Then I don't have to worry about breakage of signatures -- which is usually a big pain in the arse.
And I thought apkmanager had a good autosign tool built into the application -- however if you use the method above, you don't have to worry about it.
This can be done if the permissions are set correctly
...and yes if you are decompiling .apk's it is a whole different story
Interesting... would you need to set the permissions before overwriting the existing?
Overwrite, set permissions and reboot...although it is not the preferred method, it does work
Why doesn't apk manager work for you? You should focus on getting it to work, that is hands down the best tool for themeing!!!!
