How to send same text to multiple contacts?

I could easily do this on my old phone (10 at a time). But I cant figure out how to on this Droid without typing each name...

You type in the first name and put a comma in, type the second name and as you're typing just like the first name Droid will find it for you. You don't have to type out the whole name.

in handcent- that's the app i use so i can only speak about it not the stock messanger-

1.click on compose (top left down arrow) located on main screen with all of your messages.
2. this opens a new message (blank in all fields)
3. click on the + (top right) within the TO field
4. On the top of the screen you're given 3 options (CONTACTS, GROUP, or RECENT)
5. check all of the contact you desire- i don't know the limit
6. click the back button
7. type and send your message.

update: just tried the stock messenger app and it's not the same.
get handcent- free and better.

ok, thats seems to be a great app. Now how do I put some of my contacts into groups? That feature doesn't seem to be there...
And can I send a mass text to more than 10 people at a time?
(I have poker games, so I send the same text to about 40 people...)

not sure about the limit- i never send texts to more than one person.
try more than 10 and see.

GROUPS-
groups are set up on the GOOGLE CONTACTS side.
go online to your email and press contacts.

set up groups there and they will go to your phone automatically.

btw, the contact groups is how i do speed dials. rather than waste home-screen real estate on shortcuts i star my FAVORITES and then on my phone when you press the phone icon

my favorites go into the favorites group within the top 4.
very fast navigation to important people.

I text one person at a time. I know when you do multiple emails it's done this way.

Ignorance is my excuse and I'm sticking with it.

thats a problem.

Go to:
SETTINGS> ACCOUNTS & SYNC
under "mange accounts " you should see your gmail account and it should read,
"sync is on"

Secondly-
When you press on the account all the boxes should be checked- o have 4

CONTACTS should be a sync option.

I loaded Handcent. and now when I get a text. (and I get alot) it sends a double signal I guess for both handcent and messaging. Do I need to remove messaging? if so how? Dam this phone is so confusing!!! Argh!

if you go into the "Messenger" in the settings you can click off for it to retreive messages, and you can shut off the notifications

EDIT: handcent has it listed on their page how to fix this.
