how to root?

I believe you root it just like the droid. Last I knew you couldn't apply roms though.

Yes, same as previous.
Flash the failing bootloader, and then copy the corresponding update.zip on sdcard.
Reboot in bootloader mode and apply update.zip.

I did it to find my azerty keyboard map file back, worked perfectly.

These files must be installed with RSD lite

- EUROPE 2.1 SBF Europe file here : motorola_milestone:sbf [And Developers]
- EUROPE 2.0 failproven bootload SBF file : SHOLS_U2_01.14.0_recovery_only.zip

- The root update file l'update de root, to rename as update.zip, then copy on SDCARD.

If you have anything to save (such as keyboard map and layout files), don't forget to do it first ^^.
