Whenever I start having this many problems with an app that I really want, I just SBF and factory reset my phone (as well as wiping the cache and dalvik cache)... It takes under an hour to do all that AND restore my apps (appbrain downloads them all for me again, which makes it quick) and set it back up how I had it. I could create backups, either nandroid or TiBackup, but I figure what if they back up the problem I'm having? The extra work is worth a clean install, IMO.

He hasn't even rooted the phone yet, so he wouldn't have any backups that might be causing the problem. I don't think doing a factory reset is the answer. What version of Android is installed on your D2? Is it Android 2.2.1? I can't remember if the D2 received this update or not.

2 questions:
1st, do you have root? 2nd, did you reboot the phone after running z4root? And a 3rd question, what version of z4root did you run? Was is the most recent? I think it's version 1.3.0.

Good. Don't forget to make a backup of your freshly rooted phone. That way if you decide to flash roms and something goes wrong, you can always go back to where your phone is right now.

wow....that is extensive. Great write up though....I just installed Z4Root on my D2 and clicked "Permanent Root". That was it.

? When I installed liberty it says its out of date...but there's no way to update it right? I've tried reinstalling, but nothing on liberty works so far except for 'reboot' :(

This question is for the Liberty thread, they'll be able to help over there.

On the note of the tutorial, looking forward to rooting my new D2 later today.
