Alright, so I manually downloaded and installed the official 2.2 Froyo update for Droid about 20 minutes ago. I noticed I lost root access. And my question is am I able to root from official 2.2 to the rooted 2.2 ROM by Pete Alfonso?

Thank you. I'd like his rooted access version more. :)

if 2.1 is like 2.2 you will have to use rsdlite.

lol, wow. Thats an interesting thing to do... if you were rooted then why didnt you just go to bb in the first place?
And to answer your question, froyo has not been rooted yet... So this means you dont have a custom recovery menu and your phone isnt rooted. What youll have to do is install a 2.1 sbf on your phone and root it. (hopefully one with a custom M logo pic) Then DL Rom Manger, then download BB 0.4. :)

Hi all, sorry to butt in on this thread but I did not want to create a new one for a similar issue I am having!

I have never rooted before and I am a n00b to the techie stuff, but after reading these forums for weeks I am sure that I want to root. I just manually installed the official Froyo 2.2 update (FRG01B). Some people have told me it is not yet possible to root if you are running the official 2.2 update. Is it possible, and if so are there some step-by-step instructions for a n00b like myself?

Feel free to point me in the right direction... It would be greatly appreciated!

    Will this work?

Can anyone tell me if this will work? I have unrooted 2.2 OTA and am interested in using Pete's rooted version. Can I use a 2.1 OTA update.zip to downgrade and then root and then install Pete's 2.2 rooted version?

I'm wondering too. I rooted on 2.1 and am running bugless beast right now but have a friend on 2.2 who wants to root their 2.2 ... not sure what the best way for them is, if it's the same procedure or what

    Missrachel,

You will have to Install SPRecovery before installing FRG22. The link I provided is for unrooted 2.1 people looking for rooted froyo.

Hey Raven.. if I install SPRecovery, will it roll me back to 2.1 and then I can follow the instructions to install the rooted FRG22? For a noob who wants to root, do you think this is the safest and easiest method or should I wait a bit until the bugs you mentioned are worked out?

Yep, I'm here in this boat of 2.2ers on a motorola droid (A855) wanting to root and be rid of those pesky stock apps and restrictions. I would appreciate some info.
