You can't, it's part of maps. I have it hidden using LP.

I can't find Kindle under System/data/apps it's not there. Anyone experience this?

Also is it safe to rename the following apps to .bak so they won't appear:

    My Verizon
    News
    News and Weather
    Quickoffice
    Media sharing
    3g Mobile Hotspot
    Camcorder
    Dlna
    Emergency
    Help Center
    My accounts
    Places
    Social Networking

    Launcher Pro

I use it instead of the stock launcher. Rocks!

    kindle = redding-7648-signed-zipped.apk

There's a list either in this forum, or another that has all of the apk's listed out by what's safe and what's not safe to rename.

I haven't had a chance to read through this whole thread, but wouldn't it be fine to just move these to the SD card, then to a computer so you're not wasting space (instead of just renaming to .bak)?

Also, any updated lists (this list and the one on android forums are a month old, and I figured someone would have found more that can be removed)

And I assume we can use the same methods to get rid of unwanted ring/notification/alert tones and wallpapers?

No reason you can't. You just need to remember exactly how to restore it if you need to in the future.

Not sure on an updated list.

Yup, same methods work just fine.

The stock one is horrible, IMHO. CustomCarHome is awesome though!

Ok, I'm making a list of all the stock apps and whether or not you can rename them. I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR MISTAKES OR ANY DAMAGE TO YOUR DEVICE! Please let me know if you find errors or have updates for me. This list should contain all (and only) stock apps and whether or not it's safe to remove them. I'll work on getting the name/purpose of each app so you know what each filename goes to (most are obvious though).

Note: I have not personally tested all of these. I have renamed many of them, but because I do use some of them, I didn't test those (yet at least). This is a list I put together from my list, aldo's list on androidforums, and the list in the OP here.

    UPDATED LIST

Thanks for the list. I will wait a bit to hear more feedback before using the list in it's entirety. Good job. Thanks.:)
