Well screwing around I somehow installed a custom boot animation of some stars and galaxies.

I do not want this anymore but I have flashed several different ROMs and the boot animation still persists..

Plug your phone in to your computer and search "bootanimation", you should be able to find it that way. Mine was located in my "Tools" folder, but I think it's ROM dependent. You can't not have a boot animation, I attached the stock one.

I happened to have these instructions in my Droid folder.. hope this helps.

Did you enter the terminal commands? Not sure if those are correct as they are a few months old, but I don't see why they would have changed.

Use Root Explorer and navigate to system/media and delete the bootanimation.zip file(or rename it to bootanimation.zip.bak) you will no longer have a boot animation but the words ANDROID will be there as your phone boots up

Still can't get it to go away. Did the terminal commands.

I did a windows search on my drive and found bootanimation.zip in data/local but whenever I tried to cut and paste into it, my screen lagged up and ended up "Not Responding".

Can't seem to find the data/local folder on my own..
