I've asked this question before and no ones answered. :/ How do you get edits to the build.prop file to stick? I want to remove the HOME=ADJ line so I can turn off lock home in memory. I always mount r/w and save changes but when I go back to look at it the line is always back.

i'm not certain but i think chevy has a script built in the init file that resets that line each time at reboot or something. if that's not the case then might try absolute system from the market. it has a build.prop editor in it. very nice app all around.

This is how i did it.

    Go into Terminal Emulator.

    Type

    "su"
    "sysrw"

    Without quotations obviously.
    then you can edit it.

I use root explorer from the market. It costs money, but the works the best!

have your tried using "vi" or "nano" command from within terminal emulator?
Always make a backup copy before making/saving any changes!!
    "su"
    "cd system"
    "ls -l" --- shows permissions of files/folders.
build.prop is showing up as rw,r,r on my phone so after you 'su' you should be able to change and it stick. You will have to use the editor from terminal to edit build.prop .
    "vi build.prop"
then edit what you want, but not sure what the exit & save commands are on droid device. On linux when using " vi " it's " :q " to save and exit.

Know what, absolute system did the trick, haha. I couldn't actually delete the line, it would only let me change the priority number, but changing it to 0 worked so it's all good. Thanks!
