Hi there, I just tried using Metamorph like an idiot (without backing up with Nandroid first) and of course something didn't go right in the process. Had to eject battery, was panicking because I thought that surely my phone was bricked, get back on and nothing's wrong except my messaging icon is now ugly and I really like the default one. I did a factory restore and it's still set the way it was.

Any pro-tips on how to get it back to normal?

you can try txpro, believe thats what its called anways, its a home replacement with an option to revert to original icon when clicking on something.
    If all else fails:
    - go to market, find an app with an icon you'd like to use for messaging
    - Download Desktop visualizer from the appbran application in market ( better market in my opinion)

Its all pretty straightforward from there
