When I go to select a ringtone, i dont' see the option to "add" a ringtone. Previously on other phones, I could add any audio file I happened to have on the phone, but I'm not seeing that option, and it's kinda ticking me off. The stock ringtones are awful.

another question: the phone comes with Google "Play music" but I don't have the previous HTC "Music" app. The HTC app was much better for playing music, the GOogle one is just awful. Is there a way to get the HTC "Music" one back? The icon is just a green musical note. I like it because it organizes the music much cleaner and is easy to make playlists, etc.

Last question: Google Hangouts is TERRrible. Is there a way to get the old Google "Talk" back instead of Hangouts? I can't see who's online and there's no option for "off the record" conversations. Everything is recorded, can't be deleted, you can only "archive" it.

Oh, one more... Facebook contacts... GONE. No option to sync facebook with this phone. WTH?? All my contacts have blank pictures now. IS this a google/facebook feud thing? any way around it?? Thanks....

Think I can help with 2 of your issues, ringtones and FB. I had the same issue with adding my own ringtones. Just need to create a "Ringtone" folder on the internal storage. I use Astro file manager for that. If you download or transfer over something you want for a ringtone, use Astro to move the file to the new "Ringtone" folder you made.

As for FB sync, open your contacts and press the menu button, bottom right and select Contacts to Display. From there you can select everything or customize what you want to sync. Hope this help.

The HTC Music all is a built in HTC specific app, only found on their devices. However yo can search the Play Store for a different music player app. I'm on that there are a few that are highly recommend but I just use Google Music and Pandora so I can't help with suggestions.

Google Hangouts has a "History" that can be turned off.

No offense but it sounds like you might be happier with an HTC One? That would get your HTC Music app back as well as the better Facebook integration through Sense. Not my cup of tea, but to each their own....

Please tell me, HTC Music app and better FB are not the only reason to pick one phone over another! :sly: Once you adjust to the Maxx, from what ever phone you are coming from, this phone is a delightful experience....... Sorry couldn't resist a playful shot. This is hands down, best phone I've ever owned!

It appears Facebook and Google aren't playing nice anymore so any phone with 4.2 or higher doesn't have seamless FB integration. The HTC Sense thing fixes that, but on this phone you can use Sync.Me which is almost as good (not quite though).

For the music and ringtones, I downloaded Winamp. AMAZING! Much better than Google Music, which pretty much sucks now. The interface is clean, slick, and easy. And any song can be selected as a "ringtone."

I still hate Google Hangouts. Can we please have Talk back?? That chat app was so much better and worked just like my Gmail chat, which is actually just what i want it to do. And video or voice chat was super easy. Google Hangouts is TERRIBLE!!! Seriously, like shoot me in the balls kinda awful.

Overall this phone is just AMAZING. Best phone ever, hands down, in my opinion. IT does lots of cool things. I love how it senses being pulled out of the pocket or picked up off the table and shows you the clock and notifications as well as giving you the unlock slider. Saves you having to turn the whole screen on just to do any of those tasks. This phone is sweet! THe screen is gorgeous and the battery is amazing. Love it!! But like any new phone, there is a bit of a learning curve and I do miss some of my HTC things that were really slick. I wish Motorola had more widgets, is there somewhere we can download them??

For Google Hangouts to see who is online, download https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lorenzobraghetto.hangoutsisonline and you will have what you're missing, I believe.

For video chat, consider the following (most are video as well as text chat):

I actually like Tango, which is also cross-platform and it's not only text but video as well.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sgiggle.production

ooVoo is cross-platform video chat and perhaps one of the most popular of all.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oovoo

Viber is very similar in many ways.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.viber.voip

Don't forget that Facebook has its own chat tool and is completely cross-platform.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.facebook.orca

A couple other video chat tools.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.c2call.app.android.friendcaller
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=air.com.fbvideochat.fbvideochat
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.camshare.camfrog.android

Mchat looks interesting.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mchat

Let's not forget Skype which works across all platforms.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.skype.raider

Kakao is a Skype-like tool, also video and text chat for free.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kakao.talk

Another one that's extremely popular is Yahoo Messenger.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.yahoo.mobile.client.android.imvideo

Whatsapp is very popular as well.
