I keep mulling over the idea of finally rooting my Droid and installing BB, but every time I get turned off by the various guides stressing how dangerous it is and how SPRecovery may brick my phone. Then suddenly the benefit of ROMs seem outweighed by the brick risk.

That said, people don't seem to be having major problems. So, just how big of a risk am I taking if I flash back to 2.0.1?

    On a scale from 0 to 10, I'd say a 1.

There's always a chance, but I havent seen anyone here yet who's truly bricked their phone. Everything so far seems fixable.

Just follow the instructions, and understand them.

Well by doing this all you're doing is downgrading to 2.0.1 then upgrading back to a rooted 2.1, so you are still flashing back to 2.0.1
I did it using this same exact guide with no issues whatsoever

Thanks for the quick responses. Kellex's guide at Droid Life is what I've been looking at the most. But even he said "extremely risky", which is why I asked. I think I may take the plunge :)

How is adding SPRecovery to stock 2.1 flashing back to 2.0.1?
