Spend 30 seconds searching for it...it has been discussed at great length on both this board and all over on the internet.

In short, no, tethering is not covered in your data plan. Tethering costs extra (and I think won't be officially available till next year). However, if you don't go nuts with it it is doubtful Verizon will ever know.

Well... that depends on what OS. Is on the pc. If it is windows or mac then pdanet will work with usb, but if you have linux then pdanet only works with bluetooth dun, which is difficult to set up and slow. I have found that Proxoid or Azilink are better for linux tethering via usb.

I am currently tethering using pdanet. I paid $30 so I have it forever. It works pretty well, other than cuts out when I get a phone call or text, but then comes right back on.

    Go here.

I paid a one time fee of $30 for life afaik... Of course I still pay the $24/month for internet acces on my phone.

If I had researched more there is probably a free tethering service out there, but I just wanted to be legit... or semi legit, because its against verizon... lol.

The $30 unlimited data plan for the droid does not cover tethering....Period.

The tethering plan has not been released for the Droid. Rumored to be sometime in Jan.

Paying $30 for PDAnet is for the PDAnet program only, If VZW catches on to you tethering without a Plan, You could be charged for all data.

Pisses me off so bad that we PAY for an "unlimited" data plan WITHOUT a cheaper/downgrade data option, but as soon as you try and actually use that "unlimited" bandwidth (we all know it's hard to use a lot of bandwidth with our phones) then you're going against the rules. RIDICULOUS.

Once again, another thread where someone says that we will be charged $$$ if we are caught. This comes up all the time, yet we never hear from anyone that has actually ever been "caught".
