How do I install SPRecovery? I downloaded rom manager, and it put a different recovery on my rooted moto droid. I would like to reinstall SPRecovery. Does anybody know how I would do that?

You should be able to scroll down and flash alternate recovery (sp recovery) can you see it in the app?

I should read the apps before I use them I guess. Thank you for your help, and patience for my dumb question.

DMupdater also has this ability and its in the market (I believe) as well. This is the way you had to do it in the old days -- and prior to that the command line -- but who is counting.

I try to flash it with ROM and it says it is successful but when I reboot into recovery.. all I get is the M logo. Will it look like the clockwork mod screen? I am trying to install a new ROM

Go back into Rom Manager and flash Clockwork Recovery and then reflash SPR. It will look similar to CW, but not exactly the same. Here's some Rom installation instructions:

    Installation Instructions [SPRecovery]
    1) Download the ROM of your choice
    2) Rename to "update.zip" and place on the root of your SD Card
    3) Reboot into SPRecovery
    4) Select "install" from the SPRecovery menu
    5) Select "allow update.zip"
    6) Select "Install update.zip Depreciated"
    7) Let it install your ROM
    8) Press power button to return to main screen of SPRecovery
    9) Select “reboot system now”
    10) Let the ROM load

Note: If the ROM is deodexed then the first boot will take a long time, every other reboot will go by fast

    Installation Instructions [ClockWork]
    1) Download the ROM of your choice and place somewhere on your SD Card
    2) Reboot into ClockWork recovery

    3) Scroll down and select “Nandroid
    4) Select “Backup
    5) After backup is complete
    6) Select “Wipe data”
    7) Select “Wipe Cache
    8) Select “Install zip from sdcard”

    9) select “Choose Zip from sdcard”
    10) Navigate to where you placed the ROM and select it
    11) On the Confirm Install screen scroll down and select “Yes

    12) Your ROM will be installed
    13) Reboot from the main screen of ClockWork Recovery

NOTES: I only do the wipes when new rom is from a different Dev or is based on different OS version. The first boot of a new rom quite often takes a very long time. Do not panic, be patient

I did the same thing you did. I flashed clockwork and tried to flash alternate recovery (sprecovery) and it never stuck. I ended up using clockwork to install the mod. It worked out fine. You need to do a battery pull when it gets stuck at the Motorola logo, same thing was happening to me.

I was also referred to use the other recovery after rom installation.

That's just it. I'm having the same problem and even with SPRecovery flashed in Rom Manager, the phone does not get past the "M" logo. With the "X" depressed it just hangs. Only with a battery pull will the phone boot normally; but it appears to go through Post twice!

    Thoughts? I'm baffled.

Well its time to move past sprecovery. Get clockwork running and flash rzrecovery with the update.zip and you get sprecovery+.
