How do I install an apk from Astro?

I downloaded a widget and was told to put it in the root of my sdcard and install it using Astro. I put it in the root of my sdcard, opened Astro, found the file... but I can't figure out what to do next. I looked at the options that scroll across the top as well as the long press menu options and I don't see how to install. Help? thanks.

Download the app 'apkInstaller' from Market and open the apk from that app.

Just tap it and hit "open app manager." Then hit install in the upperleft corner
