How do I get the screen to light up when I receive a text message?

I got my droid razr m about 2 weeks ago and am still learning all the features in it. I have a few questions, but the first one is how can I get the screen to light up when I receive a text message? Thank you!

I believe you go into messaging - settings and click on show quick message. Then a couple other options will un gray and you can select them.

Download GoSMS or Handcent. Both apps will give you a pop-up window option and a screen-on option for incoming messages. The stock messaging only has the option to show the text in the notification bar when you get a message. There is no option to turn on the screen.
