I am going to let my friend have my unactivated Incredible. They broke theirs and need something to use until they get a replacement, probably ordering from an online site, swappa.com. Besides craigslist, anyone know of any other sites to check for used phones?

I want to be sure I wipe out all of my things. I am thinking if I hook it up to my computer and copy all my pics and such to my computer, then reset phone to factory default? Is that all I need to do? Are there are files I should be sure to copy that I might miss?

    Any help would be appreciated.

This should do it for you. If you are removing the SD card, then doing a factory reset, you will be wiping internal storage so it will be back to stock, no remnants of your personal information will be left.

Not necessarily true. There was an article awhile back that said Android phones are notorious for not deleting all info. It will be deleted to the naked eye, but they were able to get bank information, etc deep in the files of the phone.

This is true for any type of storage device, unlese you do a DoD level secure overwrite. It's not just Android phones, if the article specified Android phones then it was written to make Android devices look bad. It is for this reason that hard disk drives from corporate systems are generally destroyed, and not just formatted, before recycling the computer. Simply because doing a secure overwrite of say 100 computers is very time consuming.

Yes, if I remember correctly, they spoke of computers as well. But I recall it saying that Apple and Blackberry are the best at truly deleting data with resets, and Android being worst. I'll have to look for the link tomorrow at work

Unless the person has the know how, doing a couple of FDR's and removing the sdcard will probably suffice. IMHO

A rule of thumb, don't put credit card or bank info on your device... that's my practice..

Ha. Sorry had to LOL. The person getting the phone can barely turn it on. No worries for my info going anywhere. Plus its a close person... so they have all my info... just being thorough
