I am trying to change my boot animation. I have found the current boot animation file with Astro File manager. (/system/media) I've saved a new boot animation on my sd card. I try to copy it into the file that the current one is, however I get a message that I can not copy file. I've also tried moving it into that same location. I get the same message saying I cannot move the file. I've also tried deleting the current animation, moving it and copying it elsewhere. I get the message that none of that is allowed. Can someone help me change my boot animation? is there a step that I'm missing? Thank you!

I don't mess with Astro...Root Explorer is the end all of file explorer and managment applications, you are on the right track with what you are trying to do and it seems Astro's limited capabilities are holding you back, with Root Explorer you would be enjoying your new Boot Anime already ;)

Sorry I forgot to mention, that when I go to /data that there is no local file. I've already moved it into the /data file and it doesn't change my boot animation.

I've tried using OI file manager also. I get the same responses.

thats odd, that's all I've ever done to change the bootanim, pasted it into the /data/local folder. maybe try and make a local folder, but it should already be there.

I paid for the Root Explorer app and was done with it in a minute. New boot animation complete. I guess thats why the free apps are free.

i've gotta get me RE - but every time i try to buy it, it won't recognized my credit card - cuz it's in pounds, i guess??

anywho, more to the topic. i've changed the BA thru Term Emu by dropping the BA zip file on sdcard, and then typing:
    su
    cp /sdcard/bootanimation.zip /data/local/

    it's worked for me...
