I'm pretty sure this is an easy thing to do, but I'm new to rooting/custom roms/etc. and would appreciate any help. I heard you can do it using RSDLite but I'm not exactly how to go about it.

    Thanks.

To expand on this, go to the bottom of the ROM Manager screen and look for flash Alternate Recovery (SPRecovery 0.93b). Flash it 3 times, sometimes it doesn't "take" on the first try.

Hint: Make sure to have nandroid backups of your favorite/stable rom in both recoveries, as backups created in one recovery will not work in the other. That way you can always flash back to a stable rom if you ever need to.

Ahh, ok I see it. Thanks.

One more thing. I hope I'm not asking too much. I just downloaded and installed the Ultimate Droid Froyo Beta rom from the blackdroid's website: Black Droid Mod -> Download Manager -> Official Ultimate Droid Roms -> Ultimate Droid Froyo Beta - FRF57 (Nandroid Format)
I got the rom installed and it's running flawlessly at the moment, but I want to add a theme and OC kernel. Do I install those the same way as the rom? Through SPRecovery? Or since it's .zip format, do I need to install them through CWR? Thanks.

SPR will install the ".zip" updates.

Ok, I got the kernel to install. For themes, do I have to move the kernel (named update.zip) to another folder and rename the theme to update.zip?

You can install .zip updates from either CWmod or SPRecovery.

If you are using SPR mount your phone. Delete or rename any update.zip that you already have on your SD card then drag the theme update.zip to your phone. Make sure the new themed update.zip file is NOT in a folder. Unmount your phone. Boot into recovery and apply theme.

If you are using Rom Manager drag the themed update.zip to your SD card open RM and tap the install from SD card.

    Hope this helps

Thanks for the response. I thought this is what you had to do. I'll give it a try in a couple minutes.
