Hotspot and Voice

Hello, I did a search and didn't find anything, so here it goes. I'm wondering if you can have a computer connected to the Droid X hotspot, be surfing and downloading things on that computer and still take voice calls? My IT departments says no and that it is a limitation of the Verizon network, but my friend says that he can do it. Who's right?

I'm looking to purchase one and I need to be able to surf the internet and make calls at the same time for work, so if anyone has an answer I would much apprciate it.

It's one of the other.....It's a limitation of CDMA.
