...how do I get my pooter to recognize the Droid X?

When I plug in the USB, it says found new hardware, then tells me it does not recognize and some processes will not be completed ---or some such crap.

I have a Dell Dimension3100 Windows XP

Well theres your problem....your trying to stick the cable into your "pooter", lol.

PS- You probably dont have the correct Motorola drivers installed. Google Motorola Droid X device drivers for windows XP.

Thanks for expanding on the already bad image I had in my mind's eye when I read the OPs post.

Go to settings and hit the use as mass storage device. Also while your X is connected to your pooter ring tones on the card are unavailable until you disconnect.
