I consider myself a journeyman newb. I don't feel comfortable rooting my HTC THUNDERBOLT because I don't trust my own knowledge. I'm the guy that gets asked 50 questions from my mother-in-law about her new iPad. I switched to Android after having hand-me-down phones for about 5 years until I could afford to buy a decent one. I bought the Bolt on the release day, and am extremely happy with it. I don't know that I will ever attempt to root, but I do know that there is much more to learn. By the way...Roll Tide!

Welcome to the forum! Just.. read and read and.. read some more before you go and try root if you do it if you're that cautious, just to be safe. It's pretty easy to begin with so I doubt you'd have problems, but, studying up will definitely help a lot more.
